This painting is inspired by my time on safari in South Africa, where I spent extended periods observing prides of lions deep within the bush. Encountering a male lion in this setting revealed both his quiet authority and raw power—a presence that commands the landscape without effort. Through time spent watching, photographing, and absorbing these moments, the work seeks to capture not only the lion’s form, but the tension, strength, and stillness that define life in the wild.
